The latest Corel DRAW7 requires Windows95 or Windows NT 4.0. It comprises of three main applications CorelDraw, a vector Illustration and page layout program; Corel Photo-Paint, a painting and photo-retouching application and Corel Dream 3D, a three dimensional modelling and rendering package. Thrown in are a number of utilities including Multimedia Manager, a graphic file manager, a program to convert bitmaps into vector drawings; adding simulated textures; creating 3D logos and text; and the ability to capture screen shots. But wait for it, Corel recommends a 120MHzPC with 32 MB of RAM and 212 MB of available hard disk space.
A C/Net review reported that the pre release version of CorelDraw7 ran sluggishly on their test system, a 100mhz Pentium with 16MB of RAM. Overall in the C/Net Review they were impressed with CorelDraw7 and believe the graphics professionals will like it, too. It doesn’t come cheap and getting reasonable performance requires a well equipped PC. For the full C/Net review of CorelDraw7 see http://www.cnet.com/Content/reviews/Hands/111196/corel.html.
