Minutes of the Meeting held 13 November 2001 Herewith are the notes discussed at the meeting where TerryB chaired and I volunteered to be note collator. There were no people who attended for the first time. I didn't do a head count. 1. New TweakAll - TerryB Terry said there was now a new TweakAll available. 2. VW - Genesis/Legion - TrevorF A joke from Giggles and Grins: I spotted a forlorn little VW the other day that was in terrible shape. It was covered in dents, scratches and mismatched paint. Something seemed to be wrong with most of its parts. Across the back of this long suffering car the owner had painted in droopy white letters: "Puff The Tragic Wagon". Legacy Family Tree v.3.0 Standard Edition. by Millenia. It's freeware and downloadable from the net - all 13,298kb. I used it to import a ged of my family created with Brothers Keeper. Using Legacy I then created an html ancestry list of my mother. It will do it up to 5 generations. Using FrontPage I added another 5 generations as far back as Simon Hazelwood born in 1550. 3.a. W32 magster virus 3.b. Old HDDs and Win98SE 3.c. Nov APC WinXP - JohnS 4. "Favorites"print - JeffC Jeff said: The following procedure for listing the contents of IE "Favorites" and folders as given recently in a recent Woody's Watch may help members. I agree however that keeping site addresses in IE "Favorites" have become less important with the advent of Google. "1. From the File Menu, choose Import And Export. 2. In the Import/Export Wizard, click Next then select Export Favorites and click Next once more. 3. Select the Favorites folder to export all your Favorites, or select a subfolder to export only the Favorites within that folder, and click Next. 4. Select a destination file for the exported Favorites and click Next. 5. Open the file you just created to view a complete list of your Favorites. 6. To print your Favorites, select Print from the File Menu and, in the Print dialog box, enable the Print Table Of Links option, then click Print." This produces a nice list of the items within the folders of Favorites plus a listing of all their addresses. "Also, if all you want is a neatly alphabeticised list of your Favorites, give Alphabetical Bookmark Collector a try. It's a little freeware utility which produces a clickable list of your IE Favorites, separated into alphabetical listings. Not ideal, but certainly handy." I have not tried this item. 5.a. "Edible Seaweed" 5.b. "Californian red strawberries" - TedM To: "Trevor Frew"Ted notes: The power of the web to answer unusual questions is shown by examples below: 5.a. "Edible Seaweed" http://inpaku-miyagi.gr.jp/english/tokushu/1002.htm Kevin said that the "Wakame" variety of seaweed can be found off coastal rocks in NSW. He has caught blackfish using it as bait when with the Southern Cross fishing club. The Japanese site above says that this variety of seaweed cleans the intestine and removes excess salt from the body. 5.b. "Californian red strawberries" http://www.chapter2.co.za/StrawberryFrame2.htm These strawberry plants are reported to produce 625 grams on average and 32 tonnes per hectare in an open field. The fruit is said to be 3x sweeter and are still firm. They have a strong strawberry aroma. Orders were taken for plants from three members. The strawberry (four cultivars) were developed in 1998 by Mrs Eva Izsak a plant breeder at the Volcani Institute in Israel. She has spent her lifetime developing strawberry varieties - TedM 6.
