With the absence of our regular reporter Owen, this report is brief. There was a good turn out for the first Coffee and Chat Meeting of the New Year. Particularly welcome was Neville Anderson back from the sick list, who thanked members for their support, cards and well wishes. The informal part of the meeting was brief to allow for a first class presentation by Emil Joseph of the program Adobe Acrobat, and the impact of pdf files not only on the publication of Sixteen Bits, but International Newspapers and online publishing in general. Version 3 of the Acrobat reader is available for downloading from the PCUG BBS. The Meeting due to the interest of members went over time with the presentation receiving deserved acclamation. There were a number of other issues raised and refreshingly some of these dealt with the very basics of computing and internet connection. It is clear from these discussions that some members still have difficulty with connecting to the Internet and there is a real need for those with the necessary skills to visit these members in their homes to help them get connected. Other matters raised were larger capacity tapes for Colorado Tape drives, problems with a scanner and memory and TV cards for computers. About half of those present expressed support for another Picnic in the Park to follow a Tuesday Meeting. The spirit of user helping user was as usual apparent with suggested solutions and members volunteering to help those with difficulties. Next week at 1030 Tuesday 28th January there will be a virtual C and C Meeting online at #CConline on our own irchost.pcug.org.au Port 6667. Jim
