How many of you find frustrating Microsoft Windows messing with your neatly laid icons on your desktops. There is a remedy available for 95,98,ME,2000 and XP. It was provided as a fix in the Windows NT Resource kit. It is available from ftp://ftp.zdnet/wsources/0598/layout.zop Unzipped there are two files: LAYOUT.DLL which you move to your Windows\System folder in 95, 98 and ME and to the System 32 folder in Windows NT, 2000 or XP. You then double click Layout.reg and when prompted let it add the new keys to your registry. Right click My Computer or Recycle Bin where there are two new options in the pop-up menu: "Save Desktop Icon Layout" and "Restore desktop layout". -- JimH. 3. b. Office XP - GrahamMcC. I have been using a subscription copy of Office XP, which would need renewing in November. Microsoft has contacted me and told me that the subscription system has been discontinued and that it will send me a full 'normal' version in the mail which does not have time restrictions. The 'normal' version costs several hundred dollars more than the subscription version did so I am well ahead on the deal. Fancy making money out of Microsoft! -- Graham. 6.a.
