Meeting 9 May 1995

Philip Bell took the chair for the Coffee and Chat
meeting 9 May 95. Apologies were received from many members,
though there were still 18 members turned up including a couple
of new ones who just dropped in to see what gives.

Kieth Sayers(not present) volunteered to organise a table
for the quiz night, so if anyone is interested, leave a message
to me, and I'll pass it on to Kieth.

Ken Meadows had made up a batch program to fire up his
computer in different confgurations, but it didn't quite work. He
received a number of helpfull suggestions, and if all else fails
he will post it to the Help area for a more expert opinion.

Jim Hume had a letter of appreciation to Karl Auer which
was agreed to be forwarded to the editor of Sixteen Bits.

Greg O'Regan was back from his overseas trip, though we
never did a report on that, he did state that he was looking for
a Amstrad 1640. Anyone that can help, either leave a message here
or call him.

Alf McMicken had a program in development and would like
to have some alpha testers. See 2/3 for more details.

There was some discussion about modems. It would appear
that line quality is critical, as two members that had had
failures at home, had successes at another location. Perhaps
telecom could be asked to check the line out, and apparantly
there is a free call offered by Telecom that will automatically
test your line. Unfotunately, I cannot find this number in the
local directory, so if anyone knows it, please post.

Some discussion about the ABC 12.30 talk show. It was
thought that if appropriate, Gloria Robbins would be the
best person to be involved. Ian Gleeson would look into the
matter.

Philip Bell had a discussion paper on meeting format, and
this has been included as 3/3. Comments can be sent here or to me
or to any other member for that matter.

It was noted that the BBS was working quite well and
thanks need to be passed to Michael Phillips and others who have
struggled getting the bugs ironed out, as well as the personal
time they devoted to the effort.

        That's it for the 9/5/95.

 Cheers Owen
