Interest Group (OTSIG) 7 August 1996

The meeting was held in the meeting room of the Belconnen Library. Apologise were received from Sandra Henderson and the minutes of the previous meeting were accepted without amendment.
Andrew Freeman reported that the meeting
schedule for 1997 may be run on an
ad-hoc basis with meetings being arranged
as people come up with interesting topics.
October meeting will feature Tracey Smith from
Purchasing Australia and the AGM will be held in December.
SPEAKERS
Peter Tilbrook and Frank Wood from the Department of Defence.
The speakers spoke about technology options
using electronic forms and how it can change
the way we do business by moving information around
using the internet.
Document generators can create word processing
documents using templates delivered automatically
which can aid in establishing Corporate Standards.
Networks using DSTN can talk together and
published informaton and images can be distributed
across these networks.
Adobe Acrobat software lets you create electronic documents
from a wide range of authoring tools for
sharing across diferent platforms.
Simply "print" files to the Adobe Portable Document
Format PDF .and you can distribute your documents
over a broad selection of electronic media, including
the World Wide Webb,
E-mail, Lotus Notes, Corporate Networks ,
CD- ROM's, and print on demand systems. If you
send a PDF file and a copy of Acrobat Reader to
any Macintosh, Windows, DOS, or Unix user they can view
or print the document with the hardware they already have.
Using this software you can save valuable time by sending
your latest report or proposal over E-mail or by Lotus
Notes to your client or boss for review or comment
and you can improve productivity and customer service
by providing instant electronic access to all of
your available documentation. It allows you to create
visually rich documents, complete with scalable graphics
and type for access from the World Wide Web and is a
fast and easy way to publish on line.

interested in technology that would allow a faster
and better way of doing business.
