AUGUST 2005 – "THE SILICON KID"

This month we will have The Silicon Kid giving a sneak preview of his new web site, which is due for launch later this year. The PCUG has agreed to provide the Silicon Kid with the web space for his new interactive 'problems solved' database, as we feel that it is a definite win-win situation. The Kid gets the solid and reliable TIP services, and the PCUG gets what should become a large, dynamic problem solving resource. This is in line with our motto of “Users helping Users”.

In his Canberra Times column over the last 7 years the Silicon Kid has answered countless readers’ computer problems. His web site will build on the success of the column, by providing a fully searchable archive of all the questions the Kid has answered in his column. This resource will allow visitors to research many of the topics answered over those years, and to find links to other sites with answers.

Following The Silicon Kid’s talk, the meeting will become a forum for everyone to participate in solving computer problems. Bring along your computer problems and experiences for an exchange of knowledge, and then stay around for coffee afterwards. Enquiries to mmm@pcug.org.au or phone 6287 2922.
