Main Monthly Meeting: February 2009

WILD BEASTS CAPTURED ON AFRICAN SAFARI with Graham Paul The first Main Monthly Meeting for 2009 will be presented by PCUG member Graham Paul. Graham Paul will share with us some of the images he captured on his digital camera while on safari in Zambia late last year. Of course there are interesting anecdotes to go with the pictures for us to enjoy. Other participants on the adventure took high powered expensive cameras but Graham was armed with a simple digital camera and today's affordable technology did not let him down. Graham Paul shared that the above picture of the baboon was taken in Livingstone. "The rest of the baboons kept a short distance away in their "nest" below some trees. We were told by our guide to keep a healthy distance but if one charged us to raise our arms and make a loud noise and it would take off.  The baboons we saw out on safari (away from habitation) usually accompanied the Impalas and served each other as "watch outs".  We never got to get close to them as we could with lions, giraffe, buffalo, as they and the Impalas always scattered, resulting in distance viewing through binoculars."
