MAIN MONTHLY MEETING

June meeting postponed until
Thursday, 8 July 2010
(7pm for a 7.30pm start)
(we apologise for the inconvenience)

Picasa
presented by Mike Boesen

  • On Thursday 8 July, Mike Boesen will demonstrate the main features of Google's free photo management application Picasa 3, on Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • In 2006 Mike gave a presentation on Picasa 2. He'll do more now for Picasa 3.6. This is the best-ever free application for Windows (and possibly) Mac systems. It's a must-have application for people who want to:
    • easily manage and find their photos, images and movies;
    • undertake quick and effective editing of images (e.g. cropping, straightening, changing contrast, sharpening, removing redeye and blemishes, etc.);
    • create albums to show and share; post albums to the web; and so on.
  • Picasa's not a heavyweight editor like Photoshop or PSPro, but for most happy snappers it has more than enough grunt under the bonnet and: sooo easy to use.
  • Version 3.6 looks the same on Windows, Mac and Linux systems. Mike will use a Macbook to show Picasa 3.6 running on both Snow Leopard and XP Pro SP3 (running as a virtual PC). He'll field questions about Picasa and VMwareFusion 3 (used for the virtual PC stuff).
  • Go here if you want to read about Picasa3.6.

The Main Monthly Meeting of the PC Users Group (ACT) Incorporated will be held at the Grant Cameron Community Centre Conference Room, 27 Mulley Street HOLDER ACT 2611. Doors open at 7:00 PM for a commencement at 7:30 PM.

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

 The monthly meetings are free. Members, friends and the public are invited to attend. Don’t rush home after the meeting! Stay for coffee, tea, biscuits and good company. It’s all free! Renew acquaintances, meet new people and ask those questions you didn’t get a chance to ask at the meeting! Membership inquiries are welcomed!
